Fennel is believed to represent longevity, courage and strength, as well as turn away evil spirits.The Celts considered Fennel as a sacred plant, which was used in the purification ceremony, used with St John's Wort. In Greece, Fennel was popular among Olympic games athletes due to its stimulating effect and as a slimming aid to help control weight.
